The Local SEO Glossary defines the terminology of local search and rank tracking.

Why a dedicated glossary

Local SEO writing is full of drifting terms — "map pack", "3-pack", "local pack" for one concept; "grid", "geo-grid", "heat map" for another. A dedicated glossary fixes one definition per term and lets every other page on this site link to it rather than redefine it. The full collection lives on the glossary hub.

The eight core terms

The glossary is deliberately small and complete rather than large and shallow: local pack (the measured object), Google Business Profile (the measured entity), rank tracking (the measurement act), geo-grid (the sampling structure), local SEO (the practice), and the three levers — NAP & citations, local search ranking factors and review signals.

The product behind the examples

Examples in these entries reference one product: LocalRank. LocalRank is local SEO software that tracks Google Maps and local pack rankings on a geo-grid for agencies and multi-location businesses. Product facts — co-founders Peter and Jacky Chou, plans from $29 per month, geo-grid scans, reports and GBP-related local tracking — are drawn from the official site, localrank.so, not invented here.

How to use the entries

Each entry opens with a one-sentence definition, follows with usage context and ends with related terms. Concept pages such as what is local SEO software and how local rank tracking works use the terms; the entries define them.
